Jingle Jingle
I can’t stand it when I read about Jingle mail. It’s such a cute sounding phrase but it drives me nuts. I think it is pretty silly to assume that if you send your keys to the lender… they will take back your house and that’s that. It’s like thinking if you put a TM beside your company name, you suddenly have a Trade Mark. It reminds me of that show “The Office” when Michael Scott realizes that he is broke and needs to declare bankruptcy. He simply walks out of his office in all seriousness and shouts “I declare bankruptcy!” thinking that’s all he has to do.
When someone has had it with their home and / or their mortgage, one of the worst things they can do is mail the keys back and abandon the property. They pack up the U-haul and move out to their new rental property thinking thank God we just made it before the sheriff showed up.
I have been asked more times than I can count “what do you do at YouWalkAway that I can’t do myself?” People have said: “why pay $1,000 for an essentially worthless service?” I think to myself, “why don’t people do everything themselves?” Well, because they don’t have the time or mental / physical energy to do it. You can brew your own beer yourself, but it’s just not the same. You can represent yourself in court… uh… ya… You can cut your own hair… it just doesn’t look the same. You can grow your own food… who has the time to do that? Most people need assistance, from therapists to tour guides, you can do almost everything yourself. But do you want to? Should you?
You Walk Away provides:
1. An unbiased real estate attorney consultation:
- In my experience, when you speak to an attorney, they are looking to get a retainer from you. Why not, that’s how they make a living. We have created a way for people to get good foreclosure advice from an expert real estate attorney in your state that is NOT looking to get a retainer out of you. They simply want to help you with their expertise for the time we have paid them for.
2. A CPA consultation
- Same as above, our CPA’s know this foreclosure stuff in and out. If you already have a tax person, why not get a 2nd opinion from a CPA that really knows about foreclosure.
3. Weekly updated timelines
- This may be one of the best parts of the service. I think if you are going to use the law to your advantage and make the best out of a bad situation, then you should live in that house as long as you can and save your money or pay down your other debt. During that time, let us worry about the foreclosure notices and how long you have to live there. You will have ample time to find a new place to rent when the time comes and you may even get “Cash for keys”
4. Help line
- Up late at night thinking about something that you can’t get the answer to? Call or email your questions and get your question answered by a real estate attorney throughout the entire foreclosure process. Depending upon the lender or the state, this can take over a year.
5. Access to other services such as Short Sale Specialists and loss mitigation attorneys.
- With our national recognition, notoriety and being positioned in the front row of the foreclosure crisis, we have made some good connections. One of them being a group of investors that want to buy short sales. They have hundreds of millions of dollars set aside to do so.
- If you change your mind along the way and decide to keep your house, we can point you in the right direction so you don’t get scammed by the wrong loan modification company.
- Debt settlement may be a good way to get completely out of debt. We can help with this as well.
6. Help with your credit.
- When all is said and done, and you are ready to get your credit back, there are a few good companies out there that can help you. We can refer you to a solid company that has proven they can do what they say.
7. A Walk Away Guide.
- This is the 40 something page book that has all the goodies in it to help you through this tough time. (There is one for each state)
Bottom line, you get what you pay for. If you’re gonna walk away, don’t do it alone…. don’t get scammed…. and don’t do it without knowing what you’re getting yourself into. There are things that may come back to haunt you years down the road.
